Our label for the environment

Ecolabel with history

The ecolabel was established in 1978 on the initiative of the Federal Minister of the Interior and a resolution taken by the environmental ministers of the German federal states. Since then, the Blue Angel has been a market-based, voluntary tool of environmental policy. The scientific, holistic approach and the label`s independence thanks to the broad participation of professional and trade groups and the Environmental Label Jury lay the foundations for the trust that is placed in the ecolabel by consumers.
