The motto of the UBA is “for people and the environment”. As Germany’s main environmental protection agency, the UBA is dedicated to maintaining a healthy environment in which people are protected against harmful environmental effects to the greatest extent possible.

The Blue Angel is also closely associated with the UBA: The expertise of its employees ensures that the challenging criteria for the award of the ecolabel are developed on a scientific basis and based on comprehensive analyses and the results of research into the environmental impact of products. The employees at the UBA evaluate the entire life cycle of the products – from their production and use through to their disposal and recycling. The aim is to identify areas relevant to the environment for the respective product group in which environmental pollution could be significantly reduced or even avoided and, in this way, make the products more environmentally friendly.

RAL gGmbH, the independent certification body for the Blue Angel, visited the UBA to celebrate this important anniversary. A video of the event not only provides an impression of the festive atmosphere but also includes some quotes from the experts at the UBA on topics such as the history of the Blue Angel. The new video with its audiovisual review of the anniversary celebration is now available as part of the series of videos “RAL out and about”.
