The Basic Award Criteria for DE-UZ 116 "Solar-Powered Products” include requirements for the charge time so that products are still able to charge at a low solar irradiance. The ecolabel also places requirements on the materials used in the products and includes criteria focussing on their functional safety and warranty cover, as well as on the provision of practical everyday information for consumers.

Dr. Andrea Rimkus, Spokesperson for RAL Environment at RAL gGmbH, had the following to say about the award of the ecolabel to Sonnenglas GmbH: “The SOMO solar module from Sonnenglas successfully passed our challenging tests. It complies with the award criteria for the Blue Angel, is energy efficient, uses renewable energy and is independent of the electricity grid. We congratulate Sonnenglas on their success.”
